From the sleek curves of its electric cars to the cutting-edge technology that powers them, Tesla has become a symbol of the future. A company that is revolutionizing the way we think about transportation and energy.

To stay at the forefront of innovation, Tesla regularly unveils new technologies and designs to their vehicle lineup. Its latest announcement, the high-performance 'Track Package', exceeds expectations.

Designed for the Model S Plaid Sedan, it accelerates the car to an incredible 322km/h (200mph). Promising top performance for your next weekend track day, the pack also comes with upgraded brakes and sticky supercar tyres.

Tesla is also known for its quirky naming strategy courtesy of founder Elon Musk. The name 'Plaid' itself is a reference to the Star Wars parody 'Spaceballs' where spaceships reached superspeed, first called "Ludicrous Speed" and even faster, "Plaid Speed".

Looking at the specifics, the brakes come equipped with six-piston front brake calipers and four-piston-brake rear calipers, brake pads and track-ready brake fluid.

The wheels are specifically designed for the track too. 20-inch 'Zero-G' wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tyres ensure the car can safely reach and maintain top-speeds.

As for 'under the hood' upgrades, battery cooling, torque vectoring and adjustable suspension software have also been incorporated.

These enhancements will set the Tesla owner back $AU30,000.

Australia hasn't seen a new Model S on our showroom floors since 2020. In 2021, the new model received a face-lift that wasn't updated for the right-hand drive markets. The company recently released the news that Australia wouldn't receive the updated Model S and Model X vehicles.

Hopefully with the rapid increase in EV ownership in Australia, this decision will be reviewed and the Model S will rejoin the Australian vehicle lineup.
