Owning and driving an electric vehicle has just become much more affordable for Australian families following the introduction of the "Electric Car Discount" bill to parliament.
This bill proposes that fringe benefits tax (FBT) to be removed from battery electric cars, hydrogen fuel cell electric cars and plug-in hybrid electric cars.
This FBT exemption will be available for eligible electric cars purchased on or after 1 July 2022 with a purchase price of up to $84,916.
