The latest all-electric auto brand, Polestar has announced their launch into the Australian car market set to happen this year.

The Chinese-Swedish EV car brand co-owned by Volvo and Geely, will have a ‘virtual brand presence’ in Australia and launch without showrooms or workshops. Instead, they will have direct-to-public online sales models accompanied by pop-up display centers.

The model line-up set to be released to Australian customers is yet to be confirmed. The brand currently has 2 models under its belt including the Polestar 1 and 2.

The Polestar 1, a limited-run plug-in hybrid coupe is priced from around $250,000. Currently, this model is only produced in left-hand drive, so an Australian launch is unlikely… but never say never.

The Polestar 2 is an all-wheel drive electric mid-sized sedan, that boasts an impressive 0-100km/h in under 5 seconds. As a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3, this model retails for around $100,000.

The auto brand has announced its third model, the Polestar 3, that will be an SUV. With Australians current obsession with SUVs, we have no doubts that this will instantly become the brands best seller on our shores.

Electric vehicles are the highest growing car segment thanks to the increasing options available and new brands like Polestar entering the fold. The number of EV models available here in Australia are set to increase by another 50% this year too.
