It's official, Toyota have revealed their new all-electric Hilux EV!

The worlds biggest carmaker showed off their new concept for Australia's most popular vehicle at an event in Thailand celebrating 60 years of operations.

Named the Toyota HiLux Revo BEV was unveiled by Toyota's president Akio Toyoda.

As the car industry embraces electric power, Toyota has been at the forefront of developing electric vehicles. Toyoda himself presented his vision for the company to be carbon neutral by 2030. To achieve this, Toyota plans to offer 30 battery electric vehicles in this time. The HiLux being one of these models on offer.

The Toyota HiLux holds the title as Australia's longest running top-selling vehicle and has broken sales records over the years.

Australia's love for the ute can be attributed to the popularity of dual-cab utes doubling as family cars and utility vehicles.

Toyota noticed this growing trend years ago and were able to capitalize on it by offering tech and features you'd find in a traditional passenger car or SUV.

The car lives up to its description:

"Everything you need to get through the workday, and everything you want once the weekend comes around."

In fact, the top-spec and most expensive model the HiLux SR5 is the highest selling model in the range!

There are plenty of other models available to choose from within the HiLux range, including:

Toyota kept the unveiling of the electric ute concept lowkey and are yet to release details on specifications such as battery size and power output, and release dates. However, it's speculated that the concept adopted will use hardware from the bZ4X electric SUV.

The concept unveiling demonstrates Toyota's commitment to an all-electric future. We're excited to see more of our favourite models being electrified, especially with growing consumer interest in electric vehicles.
