Safety is a top priority of nearly every driver on the road. Car manufacturers are constantly coming out with new innovative safety features that help improve your driving experience. We have listed our top five safety features that you need in your new car.

Blind Spot Monitoring

Blind spot monitoring is being offered across the market and a standard option in many luxury vehicles. The safety feature uses a series of sensors on your cars side mirrors and read bumper to detect vehicles in the lanes adjacent to you. An alert is presented either visually or audibly when another vehicle is detected. The feature is incredibly useful when preventing drivers from accidently merging into another vehicle.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive cruise control is one of the most convenient features available in your car. ACC allows a driver to set their desired speed and distance from the vehicle in front of them. Like regular cruise control, the car maintains the specified speed, however ACC goes the extra step by adjusting your cars speed according to the car in front of you. That is, if the car in front slows down, your car will slow down too without driver intervention.

Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)

Autonomous emergency braking has proven to reduce the impact of crashes and even prevent them from occurring in the first place. The safety technology can detect if a car is approaching an object or vehicle stopped in front too quickly, warn the driver and automatically apply the brakes.

Lane Keeping Assist

Lane keeping assist actively keeps your car within your lane by manipulating your steering to prevent you veering outside your lane unintentionally. This technology works by cameras detecting road markings to determine if the vehicle is staying within its lane. Depending on the make and model of your car, lane keeping assist could come as standard. If you have the budget for it, lane keeping assist is a highly recommended safety feature. Head-Up Display

Head-up displays project an image of information, generally driving speed, onto the windscreen directly in the drivers eyeline view. Not only are they incredibly convenient, but they are also a very significant safety feature as it reduces the time a driver’s eyes are off the road and is able to display vital safety information.
