Tesla’s best-selling SUV, the Model Y, is receiving a major upgrade in 2025. With a refreshed design, improved efficiency, and an upgraded interior, the latest version enhances both aesthetics and performance.
So, what’s new, and is it worth the upgrade? Here’s everything you need to know.
The facelifted Tesla Model Y, codenamed Juniper, has been redesigned from end to end.
The exterior now features a sleeker front bumper, updated headlights and taillights with a distinctive LED light bar, and newly designed wheels for improved aerodynamics.
These changes not only give the Model Y a sharper look but also contribute to better efficiency and range.
Tesla has refined the Model Y’s interior with premium materials and updated technology. Key improvements include:
🔹 A larger 15.4-inch touchscreen (previously 15 inches)
🔹 An 8.0-inch rear passenger display
🔹 Softer materials and new ventilated seat designs
🔹 A quieter, smoother ride thanks to updated suspension and tires
Aerodynamic enhancements have led to increased efficiency and extended range. Here’s how the updated models compare:
🔹 RWD Model Y: Single rear motor with a ~60kWh battery pack, offering a 466km range (previously 455km)
🔹 Long Range AWD Model Y: Dual motors with a ~79kWh battery, delivering a 551km range (previously 533km)
The new Model Y remains well-equipped, retaining features like a panoramic sunroof, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a powered tailgate.
Pricing and Availability
The updated Tesla Model Y is now available for order, with deliveries beginning in May 2025. Pricing has increased due to additional features and premium inclusions in the Launch Series:
🔹 Launch Series RWD: From $63,400 plus on-road costs (up $7,500 from the previous model)
🔹 Launch Series Long Range AWD: From $73,400 plus on-road costs (up $3,500 from the previous model)
What’s Next for the Model Y?
Once the Launch Series models sell out, Tesla is expected to release a standard version at a lower price by removing some premium features, such as the 20-inch wheels and premium paint, which are currently included as standard.
A new Performance variant with a higher-output motor and bespoke styling may also join the lineup, though details remain unconfirmed.
