Car makers are shockingly efficient at getting their new EV models to Australia to meet our growing demand!

Australia's uptake of electric cars has been positively electrifying!

Ok, we'll stop with the puns...but for those who are ready to join the EV-olution, here is the latest selection of EVs coming to our roads within the next year. Though pricing is yet to be announced on these models, based on each brands existing model lineup, we expect all models to be under the luxury car tax threshold - if so, they will qualify for the electric car discount.

Launching first in Europe early next year, we will get a taste of the model and reviews to judge performance well before it arrives on Australian shores.

The 3008 is one of Peugeot's top selling models and is the only logical next step for the brand to electrify it. Beginning with the fully electric version then releasing a mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants to follow.

The standard range model claims a 525km driving range, increasing to a claimed 700km for the 'long range' model. Outperforming it's Tesla rival.

Much information regarding the new model specifications and pricing is yet to be announced, however with rivals in the vehicle class priced from $70,000 to $85,000 before on-road costs, we suspect this model will fall within this range too.

Luke Todd, the managing director of BYD's Australia Distributor EVDirect, has shared that BYD is on track with their plans to launch at least two models every year in Australia.

BMW is releasing another model in their EV lineup, the i4 eDrive35, in direct competition with Tesla. They've reduced pricing to remain competitive and ensuring their entry model sneaks in below the FBT efficient vehicles threshold, with a RRP $85,900 before on-road costs.

The i4 offers a good range of 430km and a powerful engine offering 210kW of power output. The i4 propels to 100km/h in 6 seconds.

While these models are expected over the next year, there are many models available now. For more information about electric cars in Australia, we encourage you to visit our dedicated EV space on our website.
